Welcome to the homepage of The Global Coalition for Development and Welfare (Codewe)

OUR VISION

To have a society developed with a socio-economically self-sustaining population that respects the rule of law and the rights of each and every individual, irrespective of colour, race, gender, birth, origin, ethnicity, religion, creed and aspirations.

Codewe (pronounced Co-Day-Way) was set-up in 2004 by a group of Ugandans seeking to make a difference in their communities. In July 2007 Codewe (Scotland) was formed to help publicise and raise money for our work in Uganda.

Our core belief is that the work of local people is vital in creating a sustainable and viable future.

Nursery bed
Our nursery bed

We have completed construction of our first tree nursery in Nabikakala village. This project will, we hope, greatly facilitate our programme of tree seedling distribution - something that has arguably been our most successful area of work to date.

Initially, we have planted about 600 avocado seeds, 3000 orange seeds and 100 jackfruit seeds. We have employed one man from the village to care for the seedlings.

You can find more details of our nursery project here.
