Welcome to the homepage of The Global Coalition for Development and Welfare (Codewe) |
|
CODEWE (pronounced Co-Day-Way) was founded in 2004 by a group of people in Uganda who sought to counteract poverty in the country. The core belief of the organisation is that, while various international organisations do make valuable contributions to achieving this aim, it is only really through the work of the people themselves that a sustainable future can be created. In mid-2007 this website was set-up in order to further their aims in an attempt to spread the word about CODEWE and open it up to an international audience.
OUR VISION:
To have a society developed with a socio-economically self-sustaining population that respects the rule of law and the rights of each and every individual, irrespective of colour, race, gender, birth, origin, ethnicity, religion, creed and aspirations.
$2 a day Challenge 2010
We once again ran the $2 a day Challenge in February this year. This year we are aiming to raise money for our piggery project. While the challenge is now over we still need your help to help us reach our target of 22.5 million Shillings (£7,500 or US$12,300). See here for more details. Alternatively, download the fundraising pack.
